My Break really really sucked.
I've just had the worst week possible. Really. First, I was sick for the first 3 days. Then, I worked my ass off for 3 days straight to write a paper that was supposed to be done before break. Then I pissed away the rest of my break without anything to speak of. And now I'm really really behind. Had my break gone according to plan, I would have been only a little behind. Now I'm fucked. That, plus everything else in my life seems to be in the shitter. After 8 months, I can't still communicate in Chinese. My career plan is swarming with flies that only fly around things that are putrid and in decay. Four months in China, and all the traveling I've gotten to do was go between here and Shanghai, possibly the most boring single stretch of land in China. I'm kicking myself for skipping the trip to Korea to visit Inny who I'm way in debt to, just so I could piss away my week. Hmm, what else. Oh, due to the fucking way the airlines carve out the air ticket market, my ticket home is now useless, plus I probably can't afford to go to Frank and Flo's wedding. Anyways, as I said, life sucks. Can\'t wait to move back to DC
Justice Souter attacked on nighttime jog"Souter, 64, was apparently a random target, law enforcement officials said. "I don't believe they knew who he was," District of Columbia Police Chief Charles Ramsey said Saturday." Can't wait to move back to DC. Where crime is so bad, they've resorted to holding up Supreme Court justices. Oh, and the DC police chief is a dolt. Last year, in response to complaints that police weren't doing enough to deal with crime he responded something to the effect of, "We're doing enough to deal with crime, people just aren't aware of it. Therefore, to make people aware of the police, all squad cars from now on will flash their lights." And they did. How idiodic is that? 1) It does nothing to affect the rates of crime. 2) In fact it may help potential criminials to alert them when there is law enforcement around, and when there is not. 3) As if there aren't enough siren lights and sounds around DC, to have ALL cop cars have their lights on ALL the time is a nuisance. Moreover, everytime I'd have a cop casually drive behind me, my heartrate would spike, my blood-pressure would jump, since that's what you do when a cop car tails you with his lights on. The first time that happened, in fact, I actually _pulled_over_. In response the cop just honked and drove around me. [slams forehead into table] Anyways, that's why Amy and I are living in Virginia next year. Near the patomic, near city services that actually plow snow from streets, away from the crack-whores that steal your $5 plastic speakers while breaking your $300 window, near Cafe Asia, and near(er to) Pho up in 7 corners. ) I am craving a steak.
I am craving a steak right now. Nice juicy steak from Ruth's Chris, and more importantly, right next to it, fresh steaming garlic buttery mashed potatos. That's all I want. Hmm, living in China _does_ have its disadvantages... (10.21 am
